Follow in the footsteps of Northland's Māori ancestors. This challenging track climbs through coastal forest before revealing a spectacular 360-degree panorama. It's one of our best day hikes.

.(11/2017)Located next to the transmission tower, this beautiful lookout can be easily spotted from the roadside. There is 2 minute walk to the lookout location and directions are provided from the parking location. The view of Auckland city is amazing from this corner of the Scenic drive. One can easily spot Sky Tower and Harbour Bridge.Seating and benches are provided at regular distances for taking rest and enjoying the views.Public restrooms are not available.Ample parking space. Wheelchair parking is available and entrance is wheelchair accessible.Worth visiting on a sunny day for a clear view.

Piriaka Lookout
Rain keeps showering. Nothing to see much but hey! The air is virgin and refreshing here. Park your car and take a deep breathe! Wide spot enough for parking many cars. The view is great - always green.

Old Wharf Lookout
Short walk along the water where you can catch the ferry to the city or bus around Hobsonville, cafes/restaraunt are available in the area. Lookout at the other end of the walkway.

Sulphur Beach Reserve
It was great place just 10 mins drive from city center by car. Nice place to get relax in peaceful place and enjoy city port view at far end. I have seen majority people enjoy fishing activity right here. You will find a deck too for some photos of yourself.

Coal Creek Falls
An incredibly pleasant and easy walk along a well established path through interesting native bush before the trees open up to a beautiful waterfall. A couple of benches are well placed to just take in the falls, or climb down the steps to a rocky river that provides lots of rock finding opportunities for the kids.Note that everything about this walk says it's one hour return except for the sign at the entrance that says two hours. It's an easy one hour return with kids. Also note that Google Maps may send you down the wrong road on the approach. The carpark is on Ballance Street (just follow the yellow signs when you're off the main road).

Clifden Caves
Very humble facade, though it is quite interesting once inside. Bring a torch, head lamp is best or you won't make it more than a few meters inside. It does get a bit narrow and low in places - tall people, you've been warned. There is a warning that it is prone to flooding, and not to enter before, during or after heavy rain.

Cullen Point Lookout
Nice but a little bit boring viewpoint. We've done the lookout and the coastal walk. The walk was very muddy and you don't really see anything but it is a nice bush walk when it's dry.
