On 27.04.2020 I slipped on Red Beach rocks. Stephen and Amy came out over the rocks, guided me back to the ambulance, checked me over and took me to North Shore hospital, where I was kept in overnight for observation and various tests. The service I received from these two people could not be bettered, very professional and caring and a credit to St. John Ambulance service.

I have been watching an 81 old man lying on on the floor in pain at the Hamilton Workingman’s Club. More than an hour has passed an no bloody ambulance. What the hell has happened in NZ. USA takes 5-8 minutes. Disappointed.

At approximately 1-30am i rang an ambulance due to pains in my left arm. It arrived within 7mins. The officers on board were Rod Derek and a lady paramedic trainee. These 3 folkwere totally on to it. They discovered that there was something not quite right with my heart and took me straight to Auckland hospital where it was found that i had a major blockage in my heart. After getting Stent number 8 put in place i am now running around like a 40yr old instead of the almost 70yr old that i am. My total heart felt thanks go to Rob Derek and the young lady trainee that in mind saved my life. Cheers Alex Jamieson.

It’s been more than two months since I left St John, I loved my job helping our elderly was a blessing. I was hired through a recruitment agency, first they told me my contract was only for 3 months, when I went for a meeting with my team leader she told me they have changed my contract to an ongoing contract because they liked me and my work , months passed away I would get upset thinking I’ve been here long enough but why aren’t they raising any question of making me permanent , I would cry when I got home from work and ignore my worries thinking they would make me permanent one day. When I asked my team leader when would they make me permanent she answered at the moment we are planning to do a structure change in the company and You would definitely get a chance to apply for a permanent role, then she said at the moment you’re doing “slavery “ for us. A year and two months passed away I started asking my team leader and even emailed my manager if they would make me permanent, no one gave me a clear answer, I knew something wasn’t right and so I started looking for other jobs, the sad part is imagine elderly women hating on a 22 year old, I thought woman were meant to support other woman but it came out all wrong. One day our new monitoring manager came to me taps on my shoulder telling me they will bring my contract to an ending date when I asked her why she said your role has been transferred to Christchurch, I mean hello I’ve been here 1 year 2 months why don’t you wana hire me, I cried the whole night when I got home, they never bothered calling me the next day when I never showed up for work, like wow so much ignorance that they never even tried contacting me yet made my recruitment team call me and ask if I was coming to work, I was scrolling through seek the next day and was shocked to see my role had already been advertised in Auckland, like wow the hate, jealousy and “racism “ just runs in some humans veins... I mean if I wasn’t good enough they probably would have fired me within the trial period, but nope they loved playing games with me because they knew I would never speak up or call in sick and would always work weekends and public holidays so they kept me hanging, I’m at a better place now with some kind hearted people around me who are healthy for my mental health. The reason I’m being public about it because they never gave me a chance to speak up for my self . This shady behaviour and hatered is not acceptable in a charity community. I hope and pray no one ever goes through what I went through , it’s unfair, sad and very unprofessional. Everyone deserves to be treated equally and not stereotyping someone based on their gender or race. We are all humans and bleed the same colour remember that.

Called at 2 in the morning to be taken to the hospital and they said help was being arranged. Called back an hour later and asked what's taking so long and they said it was still being arranged. Then the Paramedics called and after a lengthy conversation they basically said yeah nah we're not gonna do anything
