Matahiwi Cafe and Roadside Cabins
Great place to stop after a thoroughly wet drive up the River Road. Toasted cheese and ham sandwich and a coffee helped our mood! Lovely chat with the staff, really nice break also found out the road further on was blocked by a fallen tree. By the time we left road had been cleared, though rain fell more heavily. Not a day for the views!

Matahiwi Cafe and Roadside Cabins
We visited Matahiwi Cafe and Gallery while riding Mountains to Sea Great Ride. It was the perfect place to stop for breakfast and pick up lunch to eat further down the road. Home made bacon and egg pie and blueberry muffin. Food was excellent and Cafe owners really friendly. Highly recommend

Orewa Beach Holiday Park
We use our caravan. Only issue is the amount of rain water on the ground. Drainage may be a problem. Do not park on grass, large RV had to be pulled out. Not AC fault but still could be an issue

Tasman Holiday Parks - Papamoa Beach
Totally incompetent booking staff.Back in December 20th 2022 two bookings were made for two separate dates - both to be on same sites. The first booking they got correct but second date was anything but right. We arrived at park to check in and found we were in a totally different area in park that was originally booked. We had no option to go to another site - on arriving at this site - found it to be occupied as the guests had paid extra money to stay on till 5.00pm.We then had to park up until 5.00pm before we could set up camp. This kind of administration at reception is not good.No body took ownership of the problem.I would like to hear back from Management on this.MP

Te Wepu Pods Akaroa
This place is FANTASTIC !!We had one of the best days of our life here. The hot tub is amazing, a 100% private place on top of the mountains with astonishing view.It was raining a little bit during our stay but as I was excepting, it was awesome in rain.Highly recommended.Kate and Richie (the hosts) are amazing people, super friendly and helpful. They go above and beyond for everything. We did not order the Kate Hamper because I simply forgot to do that, but when I tasted the local honey, homemade muselli, and Kate's Crackers, I could imagine how great the Hamper could be.We'll definitely come back.

Te Wepu Pods Akaroa
Staying at the pods is one of very unique experience. We enjoyed the environment, the weather, the quiet cosy wee area, the hot tub, as well as the hamper of delicious food. Rickie and Kate were also very warm hearted and welcomed us upon arrival. It's one kind of escape from the city that none of the motels can compare to. We'll come back and stay for longer nights next time. Very recommended.PS - Order the hamper food together with your stay is highly recommended and you won't regret it.

Tasman Holiday Parks - Papamoa Beach
Absolutely Spotless bathrooms and sites, playground and all facilities. cleaners were at them all day !Wonderful Staff accommodating and friendly. I booked for 3 nights and had a medical emergency on the morning of the 3rd day and had to leave by ambulance. When my wife handed back the keys a day earlier than expected she was immediately given a refund for the last day without question. We didn't expect one nor ask for one however the lovely lady in reception insisted a refund. What a wonderful place, we will be returning again soon, we have 2 kids under 3 a dog and a cat and they all thoroughly enjoyed it.Thank you so much for the experience learning the routes in our new campervan.
