Well priced tent site. Burgers were cheap and tasty

We parked our campervan here overnight. We had a good feed at the pub and a good night's sleep.

In our most recent stay we got a free upgrade to the Tree Lodge, which was a nice surprise. The rooms are clean, modern and aesthetic. Location-wise it's right near all the eateries and activities. It's our go-to everytime we are in Franz Josef.

Amazing place to stay. Host was a delight, so friendly. The grounds were tidy and toilets and kitchen were clean. The kitchen area was also a great spot to sit out of the hot sun for a while. Would recommend!

Fabulous place to stay - well appointed with everything you can think of or need. Food was amazing and great to have dropped off prepared ready to cook. Amazing not to have cell coverage at the Retreat - added to the experience. Cannot fault anything - the service was awesome and loved it.

Absolutely amazing! Highly recommend. This was an engagement present and we added a night, but we could have stayed longer! So peaceful, loved the big fire, spent hours in the baths! Just a beautiful spot! We would do another one of the walks next time as we really enjoyed the cascade creek walk. Will definitely be back!

Helen has invested in alot of novelties and necessities to cater to all visitors. It is a unique out of the way spot that is classic kiwi in its hospitality and simplicity. The bikers bar all riders will appreciate but also a great out of the way place for anyone to enjoy a stop and have a bite to eat with a cold one.....or twoThe perfect overnight base for your group ride to pitch a tent or hire a cabin with facilities.The fish n chips, Burgers And wedges are popular and the Bacon and Eggs by arrangement will sustain your days ride ahead.Food and drinks are priced to enjoy!Not for the fussy, for those who can enjoy cruisey!

Came here for a tent site and ended up eating both lunch and dinner here. The tent site was super cheap, $15 for two! The facilities are basic but how can you complain at that price. We had epic cheeseburgers for lunch. Extremely fresh and tasty again, well priced! For dinner we had the fish (grilled) and lamb shanks. It was good but not great some vegetables were cold but you sure get a lot for your money. Will definitely pop in every time we pass through from now on!
