The Dunedin Museum of Natural Mystery
Lovely little curiosity of Dunedin's eclectic art scene. Will not be appropriate for everyone but will be of interest to anyone with an interest in natural history or morbid curiosities. Well displayed and presented.Holds various exhibitions from local artists and has artworks, books and sculptures available for sale.Note there are limited hours due to it being in a private home and there is a $5 entry fee.

A most beautiful and fascinating experience. So many artefacts which may not be shown in traditional museums, but with far more interesting backstories. Bruce is a wonderful host with such extensive knowledge, you could listen to him for hours; after speaking about the Chatham Islands, I was gifted a book on them. This is by far the most special souvenir I have ever received. This is a must-see location for anyone visiting Dunedin.

Extensive collection of practically everything, especially bones, bones and more bones. I loved it! Informative text gave the background story to many items. Fantastic imaginative artworks by the owner are the icing on the cake.

Absolutely amazing museum! One of a kind & excellently curated to inform without a overwhelming level of information. Visit was over 2 hours - highly recommend.

The Dunedin Museum of Natural Mystery
Artist, collector, researcher, curator Bruce Mahalski has created New Zealand's most curious and interesting private museum. Inside an 1870s Otago cottage are rooms of natural and unnatural history, and many objects and stories of pure mystery, mixed with art and chimerical relics. Go see for yourself, after all, you are an animal too...

I like this place very very much! so lucky I am the only visitor the morning I visited, and nice talk to the owner of this museum, he is nice and gentle. When he heard I was a medical student, he said this place was a favorite of medical school students because we all love bones, absolutely true! haha...120% recommended!

A really cool little place. We loved all the bird skulls, including my some unusual ones like a Cassowary. A few taxidermy birds like a Rook and a hornbill and a potoo. Some fascinating art with skeletons and bones too. A lovely eclectic collection, and worth a visit
