Roundhill Ski Area
One of the best -capacity, view and snow. However, if you are a snowboarder, this is not your field unless you are advanced in T bar. You might end up spending half of your energy dealing with the T bar as it’s lonng way up.

Mt Hutt Ski Area
Mount Hutt is a picturesque mountain located in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, and it offers an unforgettable experience for both adults and children alike. My recent visit with my children left us with lasting memories and a strong desire to return.First and foremost, the skiing and snowboarding opportunities at Mount Hutt are exceptional. The well-maintained slopes cater to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced riders. The resort provides excellent facilities, including well-marked trails, reliable chairlifts, and knowledgeable instructors who are patient and attentive, making it an ideal destination for families. My children, who were relatively new to skiing, received excellent instruction and quickly gained confidence on the slopes. The breathtaking scenery at Mount Hutt is truly awe-inspiring. As we glided down the slopes, we were surrounded by majestic snow-capped peaks and sprawling alpine vistas. The clear blue skies and fresh mountain air enhanced our experience, creating a sense of tranquility and beauty that is hard to find elsewhere. The resort itself is well-equipped with various amenities and services. The ski rental shop provided top-quality equipment, and the lodge offered cozy accommodation and delicious meals to refuel after an active day on the mountain. The staff members were friendly, accommodating, and always ready to assist with any requests.Mount Hutt's family-friendly atmosphere was evident throughout our visit. The dedicated kids' zone provided a safe and entertaining space for younger visitors, complete with gentle slopes and play areas. The resort also organized regular events and activities tailored to children, ensuring that they had a fantastic time both on and off the slopes.Overall, Mount Hutt exceeded our expectations as a family-friendly winter destination. The combination of excellent skiing, breathtaking scenery, and attentive service made our visit truly memorable. Whether you're a seasoned skier or a first-time visitor, Mount Hutt is sure to provide an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Turoa
September might be too late for visit! There are many chair lifts, that’s nice, but at this time of the year most of the mountain has melted down and there are only one main track (Snowbird advanced riders) open, in better days some intermediate tracks are open too. Must be really good when all the tracks are open but unfortunately we didn’t get that this year. There are also less parking spaces than in Whakapapa’s ski field.

Mt Hutt Ski Area
A bit over $150 for day pass and ski hire. Great mountain that overlooks the Canterbury planes on a good day. Lots of room on the mountain, great areas to eat and keep warm, if you don't Snowboard or Ski you can hang out near the fire place and have a good time. Caters for all from beginner easy snopes and experienced runs to parents waiting inside having coffee and cake!

Local field, and has always been amazing.Hard to give an unbiased review of this place as I've been snowboarding here for 20 years. So I won't. Up front before you continue on this review is subject to my long years experience riding Turoa and Ruapehu in general. Some things change, some stay the same.Field is unyielding and varied based on coverage. If you time it right you can ride all day without waiting in queues for too long.I've always thoroughly enjoyed riding here, and the whole mountain in general.Cafe's are always busy so be prepared for that, Snowflake especially, but their burgers are worth the wait. Up to $20 fir a burger, bear in mind you're on a mountain.... buying gourmet food no less Priced to match, all things considered.Mountain wide, staff are always fantastic, friendly and helpful.

Dusty drive in (30 mins) but brilliant for kids and families. Spectacular views of the mountains and Lake Tekapo. Staff very friendly.

Visited on 5th Feb 2023, loved the barren views. Volcanic rocks around with small streams of water coming down from above. This one is quite contrast to its winter looks. Not the best but surely worth a visit

Not as much snow as there should be, but still fun. Very long lines though.

The Remarkables Ski Area
First time to ski in Queenstown, the remarkables ski field. First day we arrived at 9:30 and the car parks were all full so need to take shuttle bus to the top, and missed the morning class, the remaining days we arrived at 7am and parked at #1 car park, which was 200 meter walk to the hall. The coaches were very instructive and helpful, the foods are reasonably priced, the all access life price is cheaper than Australia, and the kids loved it.At middle of the road there is a lookout, highly recommended to stop and check it out, magnificent views of the lakes, snow mountains and the city.
