Not what it use to be! It has been reduced to basically a tattoo parlor. You can get a chat from the owner if you plan ahead. While there if your impressed get a tattoo too.

Not exactly a museum. It's a small room crammed with stuff off of a tattoo studio

We went to The Dowse yesterday for the first time - recommended to us as a must-do in the Wellington region by friends and I would definitely agree with them! The staff were very helpful, pointing us to the best route to experience the Dowse, and also holding our umbrella (and making sure we didn't leave it behind!).The exhibitions were interesting, fun, humourous, and thought-provoking. It was a wonderful mix of visceral experiences (Chromaflage, and My River Goes With Me) as well as our history and aspirations for the future (Nuku Tewhatewha, and Māori Moving Image ki Te Awakairangi) and just a general good old giggle (Droop).Really enjoyable, and appreciated the two EV chargers in the carpark too.

Went to see the Waiararapa AT Review competition. What a wonderful collection of art by terrific local people. Grand variety too.In another gallery room.No-one could help but be amazed at the artistry of Natasha Cousens and her display - Beyond the Red Flowers.Just wonderful.

Very cool gallery, the Len lye film was good and his artworks were great! Shame they only had three of them though. Would definitely recommend giving this place a visit!

Well worth a visit in Whangarei! Free to enter. Small and interesting exhibits, including interactive elements. Only improvement to suggest is it would be great to have more information on the artists who produced the pieces as I was left feeling curious!
